Alarm Over Planning Bill Amendments
The proposed Clause 151 in the Planning Bill, disapplying nuisance to all major infrastructure developments, has been causing alarm throughout local government and the wider environmental community. Our Members have been expressing their astonishment at this seeming blanket disregard for local environmental quality – questioning access to justice for anyone affected in future by land contamination, odour or noise from the extensive list of infrastructure projects covered by the Bill.
